Announced as the successor to Lee Kang-in in PSG’s attack, Maghnes Akliouche should be the subject of a new transfer attempt from PSG. Has the famous €50 million mark requested by Monaco finally been reached?
PSG officially parted ways with Lee Kang-in this Saturday morning, his transfer to Atlético Madrid finally being made official, but his expected replacement, Maghnes Akliouche, is not there for all that.
The French international is on vacation after the World Cup, and it is not on his side that things will stall since the 24-year-old attacking midfielder already has an agreement with the capital club for a five-year contract.
It is indeed between Monaco and PSG that the matter is complicated, and the transfer, presented as likely from the start, is still not unblocked. Paris has made three offers to Monaco, but all have been refused so far, and the first, barely €35 million, was even taken quite badly by Monaco.
From the start, the Monaco side has been expecting a fixed base of €50 million to let go of their elegant left-footer, and they have never deviated from this position.
While Liverpool recently made an approach without sending an offer, PSG should come back again with a fourth offer, according to several reports. And as explained by L’Equipe’s correspondent covering AS Monaco, this fourth offer, expected in the next few days, would be around €50 million, excluding bonuses. Enough to finally make Monaco crack? It is one of the issues of the coming days.
In this case, it must also be kept in mind that, despite the recent sale of Aladbji Bamba to Newcastle for €35 million excluding bonuses, AS Monaco still needs to sell to balance its budget and is therefore not as much in a position of strength as imagined in the Akliouche case.
Elsewhere, Barcelona is expecting Ferran Torres to leave this summer, with PSG leading the race. Luis Enrique has personally called the striker to present the Parisian project.
Among PSG's attacking targets, Torres is causing his current club to fear a departure, with the club becoming less confident about a possible contract extension.
Recently crowned world champion, Torres must discuss his future with Barcelona in the coming days, once the World Cup title won with Spain has finished being celebrated, but the Catalan club is already beginning to come to terms with this case, according to the local sports outlet Sport.
The hoped-for extension is even seen as complicated, and the initial plan to wait until September now seems completely out of the question.
