Daryl Washington (2nd round) Inside Linebacker | Texas Christian | SR

Height: 6-3 | Weight: 234 | 40-Time: 4.60

Official Bio from Scott Wright

Strengths:
Very athletic --- Excellent speed --- Quick and agile --- Explosive with a burst --- Outstanding sideline-to-sideline range --- Does a fantastic job in pursuit --- Fluid hips and excels in coverage --- Active and extremely aggressive --- Powerful hitter --- Can work through traffic and avoid blocks --- Offers some versatility --- Has a lot of special teams potential.

Weaknesses:
Undersized and lacks the ideal bulk that you look for --- Needs to get stronger --- Struggles to shed blockers --- Average instincts --- Misses the occasional tackle --- Does not have great hands --- Will have to do a better job of protecting his legs --- May not be a fit for every scheme.

Notes:
Technically just a one-year starter for the Horned Frogs but played extensively earlier in his career --- Was named 1st Team All-Mountain West as a senior --- Blocked four punts during his college career, including three in 2007 which tied him for the nations lead --- Played inside linebacker in college but could also project outside (WILL) at the next level --- Enjoyed a standout senior campaign and really shot up draft boards --- Best fit will come in a defensive scheme that keeps him clean, allowing him to roam free and flow to the ball (Dansby's spot) --- Underpublicized but super talented with a terrific blend of production and physical tools.

PROSPECT; DAN WILLIAMS, DT, 6' 2", 327lb, Tennessee, Mid 1st round,

Projects to be a nose tackle at the next level with his long (33") arms, and his very low center of gravity.

PASS RUSH: Relies on good to very good power as a bull rusher rusher to collapse the pocket. Uses the swim move effectively, but lacks the burst and lateral agility to be a consistent factor in the pass rush. Works hard, but has only phone booth quickness. Requires an open lane to close. Alert defender that gets his hands up in the passing lanes.

RUN DEFENSE: Greatest asset to the defense due to his build, strength, and ability to locate the ball. Good burst off the snap to explode into the offensive lineman. Tough to move off the line of scrimmage, as he naturally sprawls his feet, and he keeps his pads low and has the upper body strength to hold up against even the double-teams. Strong hands and an effective swim-move to disengage. Natural candidate to move to nose guard. Keeps his head up and finds the ball. Only phone-booth quickness, but hustles laterally and even downfield in pursuit. His combination of power and hustle to the outside, (which Mount Cody cannot duplicate over the course of a game), gives him a chance to be a mid-first round pick.

EXPLOSION: Good initial burst off the snap. Good upper body strength to shock his opponent and separate. Needs a lane to gather momentum and provide a big hit, but can deliver a jarring blow when he gets one.

STRENGTH: Arguably his best trait. Low center of gravity due to his thick, wide lower body, which helps in the leverage battle up front. Good use of hands, and good upper-body strength to stack and shed in the running game. Relies on his strength as a bull-rusher to collapse the pocket from the interior. Slides off blocks to make the play at, (or near), the line of scrimmage.

TACKLING: Enough strength to slow, and even pull down some runners with one arm while still engaged with the blocker. Brings his weight with him as a hitter, creating some big collisions. Provides enough pop that he doesnt have to knock-down most ball carriers, but improved in doing so as a senior. Good vision to locate the ball, and can re-direct surprisingly well at his size. Hustles laterally and down-field to make the tackle from behind.

RANKED AS FIRST AMONG NOSE TACKLE PROSPECTS, 1-31-10

Sean Lee
Position: OLB
School & Year/Status: Penn State - Senior
Jersey Number: #45
Height & Weight: 6'2 - 236 lbs.
Ranked #45 on our Top 100 Prospects Board

2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

person
Sean Lee, OLB, Penn State
Sean Lee is one the most talented linebackers in the country. The only downside is Lee's inability to stay healthy the past few seasons. Lee was a huge surprise for the Nittany Lions as a sophomore when he earned a starting job at outside linebacker. He finished that season with 89 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and an interception. He improved upon those numbers as a junior, when he recorded 138 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, broke up 9 passes, and forced 3 fumbles. Unfortunately, he missed all of last season with an ACL tear that kept him out until spring practice. Lee moved to inside linebacker for his senior year, and has played very well when he's been on the field. He finished the season with 86 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks, in just 10 games. Despite all his talents, teams will be scared by the fact that he missed three games this season with a sprained knee. Lee can play all three linebacker positions in the 4-3 defense, and still has the speed to cover sideline to sideline despite those injuries. Sean Lee's draft status will depend heavily on what combine doctors have to say about his injuries. Depending on his post season performance, Lee could sneak into the bottom of round two, but is most likely a third round pick.

This kid will be a steal in round 3.

I like Graham and Hughes 1-2. They would be keys in our defense for years to come. Maybe this is the type of player we trade Q for(I hope it can be worked out).

they were raving about him at Sr. bowl practices:

Best Defensive Player in Mobile
Alex Carrington/DE/Arkansas State: Carrington came to Mobile with a complete game, which caught scouts off guard. He was fast and powerful, the latter which answered questions about his playing strength. Scouts loudly applauded Carrington each day at practice. Coming into the week he was a mid-round choice. As Senior Bowl practices end Carrington leaves a top-60 pick.

Honorable Mention: Daryl Washington/LB/TCU: Expectations were high when Jerry Hughes, the All-America from TCU, was originally listed on the Senior Bowl roster. Hughes bypassed the event with a quad injury but the Horned Frogs program never missed a beat as his college teammate proved to be a star. By Wednesday scouts branded Washington as the top athlete of all the linebackers in Mobile and the only true three-down defender at the position.

Mike Iupati OL - Idaho. 1st Round

"I think he is one of the stars of the week," Mike Mayock, an analyst for the NFL Network, said of Iupati, a consensus All-American pick this season for the Vandals. "He is one of the few people that I could say that could probably start at any of the five positions in the NFL on the offensive line. So I think he's a first-round pick.

Linval Joseph DT East Carolina #97
6'6 322lbs

60 tackles this past season, with a team-high 13.0 of those coming for lost yardage with 14 quarterback hurries. In 41 career games, Joseph booked a total of 143 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.

This kid is built very stout with great lower body mass and long, productive arms. He has a high motor and his on field awareness seems very high. Many draft sites project him as a DT with some saying he could even man the NT position in a 3-4, but I feel this guy is going to turn out to be an outstanding 3-4 DE.

He is raw, and has declared for the draft early, and won't necessarily turn out to be a star in the NFL but should turn out to be a very solid, blue collar type guy who gets little recognition. I believe he will turn out to be a very solid starter in this league, especially at 3-4 DE. Would be a good pick up for us to use as a rotational DE to spell DD and CC along with Branch and could be used as another DT in our goal line/short yardage situations.

He's projected by most sites to go in the 4th-5th round, but I think his stock will rise.

Here is a little video on him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu9sFXqtPUk

Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State

Chris "Beanie" Wells is an elite running back prospect. Former Ohio State great Archie Griffin recently said that he thinks Wells is the closest thing he's ever seen to Jim Brown. This may a bit of a stretch this early in Beanie's career, but he has a chance to be something special. Wells is the most physically gifted running back in this class. At 6'1" and 237 pounds, Wells still reportedly runs the 40 yard dash in the 4.4 second range. He has a tendency to take a play off now and again by not hitting the hole at full speed. This is an issue that will be resolved quickly in the NFL, when he realizes defenses are just too good not to get into the hole fast. There may also be a few GMs that are worried about his hands. Wells has only caught 15 passes in his career at Ohio State for 84 yards. He doesn't appear to have bad hands on film, just very untested ones (which could limit him to being a two down back in the pros). Even with some small flaws in his game, it's hard to argue with his production rushing the football. In 33 games during his short collegiate career, Wells rushed for 3382 yards and had 30 touchdown runs. Wells' running style will translate nicely to the pros, because he runs with tremendous power and shakes off the first tackle in most instances. He also has the speed to get to the outside, and makes beautiful cutbacks while he runs. The foot injury that kept Wells out of 3 and a half games seems to have healed just fine, and should keep his stock from dropping in most scouts' eyes. The only thing that will keep Wells out of the top ten is the lack of need at running back by many of the teams that will be selecting at the top of the draft. Chris "Beanie" Wells will likely be drafted between the 12th and 24th picks in the first round.
Chris Wells solidified his first round status at the NFL Combine. His 40 time was slower than expected, but still a very respectable 4.59 seconds. He also showed off good strength and athleticism during the vertical leap, broad jump, and bench press. Wells is likely to be the first back taken this year.
"Beanie" Wells once again lowered his 40 yard dash time to an impressive 4.46 seconds at his Pro Day workout. Wells has established himself as the top running back available this year, and should be selected by the middle of round one.

 that was last year. Still can't believe he was passed over by 30 teams. :fans:.

I personally like Graham more than any other 34 OLB prospect that will come up on our pick. Ricky Sapp, Sergio Kindle and Jerry Hughes will all be finesse players at the next level.

Brandon Graham looked like Freeney out there at the Senior Bowl Practices and the game, Woodley... If we keep 26, he would be a good choice, it seems!

I doubt he'll even be there at 15 much less at 26, same with Graham. These guys are probably the top two 3-4 LBs in the draft.

To reiterate, will 26 and Q get us into the top 10 of the draft?

McClain isn't necessarily a 3-4 LB. He'd be great in any scheme.

Doesn't matter. No chance on Earth the team would even consider moving into the top 10 this year.
