The Dallas Cowboys need more help at cornerback and one analyst believes they should strike a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That analyst is Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine, who proposes a trade between the Cowboys and Steelers that would send Jalen Ramsey to Dallas.

Here's a look at the full proposal from Ballentine, along with what he had to say about it:

  • Cowboys get: CB Jalen Ramsey
  • Steelers get: 2026 fifth-round pick (No. 150)

"They released Trevon Diggs at the end of the season and DaRon Bland is the only sure thing coming back next season," he said. "There is risk in trading for Ramsey. He's 31 and was moved to safety in the latter half of the season in Pittsburgh. However, it probably would only cost a Day 3 pick given his price tag and age."

Ramsey began last season playing mostly in the slot, but he was shifted to safety due to injuries at the position.

The veteran didn't live up to expectations, though, as he finished with a 70.4% completion rate allowed and a 118.1 passer rating when targeted.

Now, Ramsey accounts for a $19.5 million cap hit in 2026 and there's a good chance the Steelers aren't keen on keeping that on the books.

They will look to trade him first, but if not a cut is definitely possible. No matter how the Steelers part ways with Ramsey, they will save a whopping $19.5 million in cap space and won't incur a single dime of dead money.

Ramsey might not be the player he once was but beggars can't be choosers and the Cowboys are in that position when it comes to their cornerbacks room, and the defense overall.

Ramsey gives the Cowboys multiple options on how to deploy him thanks to his experience playing on the boundary, in the slot, and at safety, all positions Dallas needs help at.

The biggest problem with this trade is the Cowboys won't be keen on picking up the money on Ramsey's contract, so a reworked deal or the Steelers taking on money will likely be necessary to make this kind of deal happen.
