For the third time in four seasons, the Princeton Vikings will play in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I girls basketball state championship game.

Princeton, the 2023 state champs and runner-up last year, beat Wadsworth 53-43 in the state semifinals on March 12 at University of Dayton Arena.

"Wadsworth came out with a lot of intensity," Princeton coach Dee Davis said. "They came out ready to go. We came out sluggish in the first half. We talked about it at halftime. We're down seven and we've played the worst we've played in a while. We definitely did not play Princeton basketball.

"We came out in the second half with a sense of urgency. We picked up and started to go downhill more. I'm very proud of their effort in the second half."

Princeton trailed the Grizzlies 27-20 at halftime, but turned the contest in the opposite direction with a 19-0 run to begin the second half that ran over six minutes off of the game clock. Once Wadsworth got on the board in the second half, it closed a 12-point deficit into a 5-point deficit entering the fourth quarter.

The Vikings forced 28 Wadsworth turnovers, scoring 23 points off the takeaways. Princeton's defensive effort was massive, while the Vikings made just two of their eight 3-point attempts and were 17-for-29 at the free-throw line.
