Penn State football will have a completely overhauled roster to get to know in 2026 under new head coach Matt Campbell. Following one of the most active offseasons in recent memory for Penn State with a flurry of activity in the transfer portal, fans will have a lot of catching up to do in getting to know this year's Penn State roster. Fortunately, not every face will be brand new to fans. Regardless, we will be here to give you a fresh overview of every player on the roster for the 2026 season with a series of player profiles.
From all of the returning players, a long list of new faces from the transfer portal, and incoming recruits from the Class of 2026, we will have you covered with this year's player profiles for the Penn State roster. Here is a quick look at tight end Cooper Alexander for the 2026 season.
Class of 2024: Consesnsus 3-star, No. 38 ranked tight end, per 247Sports
Alexander originally committed to Iowa State back in 2023, officially joining the team the following year. He spent two seasons with the Cyclones before coming over to Penn State through the transfer portal.
The three-star tight end didn’t see the field much during his time at Iowa State, catching just five passes for 47 yards in his two seasons. However, he did appear in 12 games during the 2025 campaign.
There were high hopes for Alexander last season after his freshman year was lost due to injury. But he was largely unproductive and now joins a Penn State tight end room without many defined roles. If the redshirt sophomore is able to tap into the receiving upside he showed in high school, then he could find himself playing a much bigger factor on offense.
Alexander’s father played 10 seasons in the NFL with a number of teams, like the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos, to name a few.
