With the 2026 NFL draft near, we will be taking a position-by-position look at where things stand with the Indianapolis Colts.

The draft will take place from Apr. 23-25. The Colts have a modest seven draft picks at the moment, including just two in the top 100. GM Chris Ballard, however, has hinted strongly at wanting to gain additional capital. That, in part, could come from trading Kenny Moore.

Rounding out our preview is the safety position. If you missed our other positional previews, you can find them below.

Colts offseason moves at safety

What is the need at safety for the Colts?

The Colts have now signed Adderly, Owens, and Thomas in free agency. Also on the roster is Wohler, who will also be in the mix for the starting job next to Bynum. From a roster number standpoint, adding to the safety position isn't necessary.

But that said, whether any one of the aforementioned players above can secure the starting role and provide a consistent presence is unknown, but with several players competing for those snaps, the Colts are at least giving themselves options. All of these additions, however, shouldn't stop the Colts from making an addition here in the draft.
