HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — An event to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States and highlight youth from across the country will likely be attended by President Donald Trump, according to information provided by Ashtabula County Commissioner Casey Kozlowski.
“I’m really looking forward to the Patriot Games coming to Ashtabula County,” Kozlowski said. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase everything our community has to offer, and the possibility of President Trump returning 10 years after his 2016 visit would make it even more special.”
SPIRE Academy was chosen as the host venue for the national athletic competition celebrating the next generation of American leaders to be held Aug. 9-11.
“The 2026 Patriot Games is about more than competition, they’re about the grit, character, and optimism that have carried America for over 250 years,” said Danielle Alvarez, a spokesperson for Freedom250. “These young athletes represent the very best of who we are and the promise of what’s still to come.
“As our nation marks its 250th birthday, there’s no better way to honor that legacy than by celebrating the talent and determination of the next generation of American champions.”
Athletes are scheduled to compete in a series of events that reward not only physical achievement, but also discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and leadership, states a press release from the event coordinators.
The athletic challenges include strength, endurance, agility, teamwork, and perseverance for the 14-17 year old athletes.
The event is part of a broader series of signature evens taking place across the country, according to information from Freedom250.
The competition is scheduled to be streamed life on the ESPN App with the champions announced during a prime-time ESPN on ABC special on Aug. 13. The competitors will be seeking to win $250,000 in scholarships.
