PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — The Richwoods Knights are in the driver’s seat in the Big 12 Conference race in girls basketball.

The Knights stayed atop the league standings with a 60-47 win at second-place Normal Community on Friday. Richwoods (20-4, 9-0) can wrap up an undefeated conference season with a win over Urbana on Tuesday.

Notre Dame (21-6, 8-1) could still tie Richwoods if the Irish win out. But the Knights beat the Irish head-to-head last week.

Other girls basketball winners included Washington, Metamora, Pekin, Normal West and Roanoke-Benson.

In boys basketball, Chase Kasten scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Normal Community past Richwoods, 60-48, in the boys’ end of the basketball doubleheader in Normal. Other winners included Peoria High, Manual, U-High, Central Catholic, Eureka, Leroy, Tremont, Lexington, Brimfield, Peoria Heights and North Fulton.

The Morton competitive cheer team qualified ninth and advanced to the final day of the state championships Saturday at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.
