RFK Racing is stuck in an interesting situation. The organization only has two charters for three drivers heading into the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season. Chris Buescher signed a long-term contract extension, while Brad Keselowski should return as the owner. However, what about Ryan Preece?
Despite not having a third charter, Motorsports Wire predicts that Preece will stay in the No. 60 car for RFK Racing, competing in an open entry. This will be an unfortunate financial situation, but RFK Racing will keep the driver of the No. 60 car moving forward. After all, Preece is a Chase-caliber driver and could be supported by Kroger.
RFK Racing will have to figure out whether running a full-time open entry makes sense, but the prediction is that all will work out. Preece would have to qualify for every race that has 40-plus drivers, but the Daytona 500 is typically the only concern. RFK Racing should keep pursuing a charter, even if it will be tough for 2027.
