We have released DL Coziah Izzard and WR Tejhaun Palmer

We have signed DL Cam Horsley and RB Evan Hull
I had thought Palmer would be an asset for us. Dropped his opportunities a little too much.

Cardinals fans will get their first chance to see rookie quarterback Carson Beck in game action on Thursday night.

Head coach Mike LaFleur announced on Tuesday that Beck will get the start against the Panthers in the Hall of Fame Game. LaFleur did not lay out the plan for the rest of the game for the quarterback spot, but it seems unlikely that Jacoby Brissett or Gardner Minshew would get tabbed for any work with the third-round pick starting the game.

LaFleur did not hold a press conference on Tuesday, but said on Monday that he thought Beck had his best practice of camp over the weekend.

“I thought it was probably the best, and I thought I think our second and third groups have operated a pretty high clip thus far,” LaFleur said, via the team’s website. “Probably the best that they have operated in terms of just you know getting set and going. … They were mimicking the plays that we’re going to run on Thursday night, so that they have a good feel for it.”

Kedon Slovis is the fourth quarterback on the roster in Arizona and will likely see playing time after Beck’s night in Canton comes to an end.

#AZCardinals ST coordinator Michael Ghobrial:
- Calls return game “competitive” and while Devin Duvernay will get opportunities, but so will others. Devin’s speed “can run with the best of them” and highlighted his catch mechanics as a reason as to why he reaches top speed quickly.

- Ball security is No. 1 when evaluating key characteristics of a return man.

- Chad Ryland “progressively getting better” as camp continues. Says spacing out kicking days/reps - especially ahead of a game - is critical

- One of the biggest preseason challenges is playing one side of the ball on top of special teams. Says being tired is a true test of how players operate.

- Ihmir Smith-Marsette is “intentional and deliberate” in return game. Has been No. 2 to Duvernay.

- Called Max Melton the “fastest kid alive”

- Says 11 v 11 is a great way to play off another in practice. Believes drills are critical but so many valuable lessons in team when it comes to finding where they fit in the puzzle.

#AZCardinals OC Nathaniel Hackett ahead of the preseason opener:

- “Great execution” what he wants to see from Carson Beck on Thursday.

- Says his college experience shows up when he’s in the huddle. Says that’s his favorite thing about him and has good command.

- Progression has been good this training camp despite up and down days. Says Beck doesn’t let mistakes get to him.

- he hasn’t given LaFleur any advice on how to handle first preseason game as a head coach.

- “Everything’s about the game” when asked what Beck can show on Thursday. - Says he will be up on the booth on Thursday.

- MHJ finding space “his acceleration off the ball, threatening of the deep ball” has been incredible.

- Kendrick Bourne’s juice is electric. KB loves football. Called him physical and called him such a great standard for others

- Jayden Williams is having a great camp. Says mentally he’s picked it up - Excited to see how Beck responds to adversity on Thursday.

- on Jeremiyah Love: you see him getting so comfortable with his understanding of the game. Really highlighted his ability as a pass catcher.

might be a preseason game but it's a national game - nobody's paying attention to pickett but beck gets a lot of clicks

preseason or not this will count as beck's debut for a lot of people

#AZCardinals DC Nick Rallis ahead of the preseason opener:

- Andrew Wingard stepped in immediately and has made plays. Called him a fast communicator and teammates love playing with him. Says best 11 will play but whole safety room is elevating.

- “I want guys to be where they feel like they can best perform” on Walter Nolen dropping ten pounds. Says that’s not his field but called him powerful and explosive. - Front seven has had good days and bad days. Says there’s things everybody needs to improve.

- Thinks linebackers are playing fast and moving downhill. Says they’ve taken a jump.

- “the entire corner room is in competition”

- Says uptick in turnovers recently forced is a product of execution and playstyle. Wants his guys to be opportunistic.

- Says in terms of dialing up the pressure, it’s a mix of pressure and feel

- Called Josh Sweat “locked in” in meetings and dubbed him a leader

Not a HOF game til ambulances start backing up to the field..also very safe astro turf in Canton. Seems perfectly safe.
