In the HOF game, Beck was mostly 'under center'. Last year. I thought that Jacoby was hardly ever under center. Will he have a problem adjusting, having missed much of TC?

Takeaways from #AZCardinals HC Mike LaFleur ahead of the Red and White practice:

- said Joey Blount won’t play “anytime soon” and called his injury unfortunate. “He’s a cardinal. He loves his teammates.”

- “for that day I thought the units operated and played with the playstyle we asked of them” but said there’s a lot to correct. Really impressed with Haynes King.

- Where he wants to see Carson Beck go from here: continue to stack. One day at a time. See what you can learn from it.

- on Three false starts: “it’s all focus.”

- BJ Ojulari: wants him to get time on task.

- Says nothing really surprised him in terms of head coach operation on Thursday. Said it was cool having family there and talking to Matt before the game. Called HOF Game environment really neat.

- Doesn’t feel like they’re ahead with extra preseason game.

- Reggie Virgil and Jalen Brooks impressed on Thursday.

- “consistency is the truest level of persistence” on Carson playing in the preseason and what to make of it

-Impressions of OL: operated well. Communicated well.

- Won’t name starters yet for Thursday.

I'm sure someone will come up with the percentage rate but compared to Murray, JB was under center a lot. Once everyone stopped biting on our lack of play action I'm sure it was just better to go shotgun

I PREDICT! Slovik is the only qb who will be cut.
One of these qb’s will “ tweak a knee” and be placed on IR. It will probably be Beck unless he REALLY balls out.
This buys the Cardinals 4-6 weeks to watch the season unfold. Start out 1-5 or 0-6 weeks we bring in Beck.

No way Beck goes on IR. One QB will be the emergency QB with the other 2 being active. Minshew will the the backup no matter who starts IMHO.

The risk of faking an injury is too high.

Players must have a real, verified football injury to be placed on the NFL's Injured Reserve (IR) list. Faking or exaggerating an injury to hide or "stash" healthy players is strictly illegal under league rules and the collective bargaining agreement.

Slovis looked pretty good in the HOF game. Having three QB's on the '53' probably means no PS QB, but if he has another good game he might make somebody's PS.
If Beck continues to grow and perform in Preseason games, Jacoby, IMO, could be traded. Even with his raise, his contract is very palatable for a QB needy team. Minshew will always be QB2, no matter who is starting.

Something I'll be looking at in the game is MLF. I know he's called plays before, but I don't know if he was down on the field or up in the booth. In the HOF game he did a poor job of covering his mouth (with the play card) when calling plays. So when I saw a lot of verbiage, I figured it would be a pass and it usually was. Does anyone else see this as a potential problem?

My wife was yelling at him to cover his mouth.

You bring up a good way to determine pass without reading lips.

Trade Jacoby? Interesting. Well, if we are going to tank again.

The prevailing sentiment seems to be the Cards can win 3 games with Jacoby starting or Beck starting.
Here's the problem I have with that statement. Everyone says the QB is the most important position on the field. So, a 10 year experienced, albeit backup QB is now equal to a rookie QB? I was just as impressed by Beck as anyone in the HOF game. But, if Beck made the offense look good, shouldn't JB be able to do better?

Training camp reports are that JB isn't really wowing anyone and he's still behind. JB made the offense look awesome last year to a 1-11 record.

Also, they don't have to be equal, to make the decision to go with Beck. If Beck is outperforming expectations, why not see what he's got and see if he can grow into the role? It really makes deciding to draft a QB next year a whole lot easier if you know definitively what Beck can/can't do.

the theory would be those same 3 wins allowing beck to get some time under his belt - it would give the cardinals a bigger idea of who beck is and that's something we need to know pronto

if we wait til the last 7 games to start beck and then he turns an ankle (or something) we could be heading into the next draft still not knowing
