Mansoor Delane is a lockdown, ballhawk cornerback who has been a popular name in Miami Dolphins mock drafts recently. After spending three seasons making life miserable for ACC receivers at Virginia Tech, Delane elevated his game at LSU and earned unanimous All-American honors.
At LSU last season, he showed his prowess in press coverage and displayed outstanding coverage skills. He tallied 11 passes defended, two interceptions, and 45 total tackles. As a junior at Virginia Tech, he picked off four passes and recorded seven passes defended, and also forced a pair of fumbles.
Perhaps one of the most impressive stats for Delane was his zero penalties, as well as not allowing a touchdown in 2025. When quarterbacks dared to target a receiver with Delane covering them, their passer rating was 31.3 last season.
Delane would make great sense for a Dolphins team very thin at cornerback, as well as having a new defensive-minded head coach in Jeff Hafley.
The Miami secondary was plagued with injury in 2025 from the very start of the season. In an area where depth and talent were already an issue, the Dolphins were forced to sign a few veterans in the summer, and there is no guarantee that Rasul Douglas or Jack Jones will return in 2026. Additionally, veteran slot specialist Kader Kohou, who missed all of 2025 with a knee injury, is set to be a free agent.
With Hafley specializing in defensive backs, Delane makes for a perfect selection at No. 11 overall, and could be an extremely safe pick for first-year general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan. Hafley would be able to use Delane in any scheme imaginable with his versatility in playing man or zone.
If Miami does not bring back free agents Douglas and Jones, the Dolphins will have two open starting spots on the outside at cornerback. Rookie Jason Marshall Jr. was converted to the slot and showed promise, so even if Kohou does not return, the nickel area may be accounted for.
On the boundary, Delane would make an immediate impact and he may prove to be the best cornerback in the 2026 NFL Draft class.
