NEED TO KNOW

  • Fans can vote live during the Pop-Tarts Bowl to choose the sacrificed Edible Mascot team
  • The Team Sprinkles vs Team Swirls showdown includes a limited-edition tailgate box giveaway
  • The game airs Dec. 27 at 3:30 p.m. EST on ABC from Orlando

Dubbed “The People’s National Championship,” the Pop-Tarts Bowl may not decide college football’s top title — but for pastry fans, the final sacrifice is the decision that matters most.

On Wednesday, Dec. 17, ahead of the 2025 Pop-Tarts Bowl, the brand announced live, in-game voting for what it’s calling “The Biggest Sacrifice Ever,” allowing fans to decide which team of Edible Mascots will be eaten once the final whistle blows. When the Georgia Tech vs BYU game kicks off on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 3:30 p.m. EST on ABC, viewers at home and fans inside Camping World Stadium in Orlando can vote by text for either Team Sprinkles or Team Swirls — determining which pastry-packed squad meets its delicious destiny.

The Pop-Tarts Limited-Edition Team Sprinkles vs Team Swirls Tailgate Pack

Voting opens at kickoff and fans can text either “SPRINKLES” or “SWIRLS” to 21523. The results will be revealed at the end of the game, when the winning football team celebrates with the ultimate Pop-Tarts Bowl tradition: the edible mascot sacrifice.

To mark the occasion, Pop-Tarts is also rolling out a limited-edition Team Sprinkles vs. Team Swirls Tailgate Pack, a collector-style box featuring full-sized packages of all six Edible Mascot flavors appearing in this year’s game. The lineup includes Protein Slammin’ Strawberry, Frosted Cherry, Frosted Cookies & Crème, Frosted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Frosted Wild Berry and Frosted Hot Fudge Sundae.

Fans can enter for a chance to win the tailgate pack by visiting @PopTartsUS on Instagram between Dec. 18 and Dec. 21, bringing the bowl-game spectacle straight to their own watch parties.

“Pop-Tarts fans are passionate about their favorite flavors, so this year, we’re giving them the power to decide which Edible Mascot team will be sacrificed and eaten by the winning team,” Leslie Serro, Vice President of Marketing for Pop-Tarts, said in a statement. “Whether fans are voting for their favorite team or recreating the epic sacrifice at home, this year’s game is all about delivering unforgettable moments.”

Beyond the vote, Pop-Tarts is doubling down on its signature over-the-top game day energy. Festivities begin with the Pop-Tarts Bowl Fan Fest outside Camping World Stadium, while a Mascot Cam livestream will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at sideline antics throughout the game.

In-stadium concessions will also have fun offerings, including Loaded Pop-Tarts toaster pastries, Pop-Tarts Nachos, deep-fried Pop-Tarts, waffle cone sundae bowls and returning fan favorites like the Bavarian pretzels and Pop-Tarts trifles.
