The Coloradoan is proud to present our weekly Athlete of the Week series, partnering with Blue Federal Credit Union to honor the best Fort Collins-area high school athletes.

With the spring high school sports season (and whole school year) wrapped up, this will be a special edition of our weekly awards.

Here, you can vote on the top Fort Collins-area boys athlete for the entire 2026 spring sports season.

You can find the ballot at the bottom of the page. Voting is open until 11:59 p.m. June 1, with the winner announced June 2.

Return to coloradoan.com/sports next week to vote for the top Fort Collins-area athletes from the entire school year.

The following boys athletes are nominated for their performances in spring sports:

  • Sam Lofstrom, Rocky Mountain swimming: The Lobos senior didn't go out with a state title, but he was the Class 5A 50-yard freestyle runner-up in All-American time to make the 5A all-state first team. Lofstrom also led Rocky to four city titles in his four events and the 200 freestyle and 400 free relay conference titles.
  • Cadel Ruthven, Fort Collins track & field: Ruthven finally got his long-awaited individual state title in the 5A 1600 meters at state. He was the most prolific individual scorer for Fort Collins' 5A team championship squad and the 5A Track Athlete of the Year while shattering school records. Ruthven won eight of the 12 races he entered this spring, taking second three times and winning the 1600 meters in all four tries.
  • Dylan Rubenstein, Fort Collins baseball: What a senior season on the diamond for Rubenstein, a three-year standout who took it up another level in his fourth. He was Northern Conference Player of the Year and two-way star. Rubenstein went 5-0 with a 1.00 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 35 innings pitching, also hitting a team-best .405 with six homers, 10 doubles and 31 RBIs.
  • Nate Blehm, Wellington baseball: The Eagles junior was a two-way focal point in the program's first trip to the 3A state tournament. Blehm was 6-2 with a 1.80 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched, while hitting .312 and often starting at catcher. That showed in a memorable road regional upset, when Blehm caught a one-run win before tossing a complete-game shutout to beat host Prospect Ridge Academy.
  • Alec Lundy, Heritage Christian T&F: It was a special spring for the Eagles senior. Lundy won the 2A 300 hurdles state title, was runner-up in the 2A high jump and also ran a new personal-best 110 hurdles time in the state prelims after winning league in the same event. He was a 2A first team all-state selection and a top-five city finisher in three different events.
