TEXARKANA, TX (KTAL/KMSS) — The last time the Pleasant Grove Hawks and Liberty-Eylau saw the field, they both ended in heartbreak as state runner ups.
On Monday, to celebrate a new season and start the season fresh, the two powerhouses faced off against one another at Hawk Field.
The Hawks found themselves on the board early, out to a 2-0 start courtesy of Blue Rose and Christian May with an RBI a piece.
The rest of the game, however, was a defensive battle between the two teams. Maddax Moore and Gunnar Keith both took turns on the mound for the Leopards. Hunter Rose was the killer on the mound for the Hawks.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the sixth that another run saw the board. Blue Rose had stolen his way to third after a double to right, when May sent one rolling over center to bring him home.
Hunter Rose finished on the mound with a complete game no-hitter, starting the season off right.
Both teams are back in action this weekend. The Leopards head to the Pine Tree tournament, Pleasant Grove will be at the Whitehouse tournament.
