Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham will miss “an extended period of time” with a collapsed lung, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

“There is some optimism within the Pistons that he’s going to be able to come back for the playoffs, but still not sure about next steps,” Charania, who added that Cunningham’s case is considered “mild” by doctors, said Thursday on air.

Cunningham is averaging 24.9 points, 9.9 assists and 5.6 rebounds for the Pistons (49-19), who hold the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference.
