The Detroit Pistons entered Tuesday night’s Game 5 matchup against the New York Knicks with their season on the line.

Of course, the Pistons dropped Game 3 and 4 at home and headed back to Madison Square Garden needing a victory in Game 5 to keep their season alive.

That is exactly what they would be able to do as Detroit grabbed a hard-fought 106-103 victory on Tuesday night in New York.

In a game that was close throughout, the Pistons completed a great third quarter to take the lead heading into the fourth quarter where they were able to hold on to extend their season.

Cade Cunningham led the way for the Pistons as he recorded 24 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 37 minutes.

Ausar Thompson also came up big in the victory as he scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 29 minutes while shooting 8-for-10 from the field.

Detroit was also able to hold Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and the rest of New York’s squad intact as no Knicks player scored more than 19 points in the loss.

This is a massive victory for the Pistons and they made a loud five-word statement afterwards.

“DEEETROIT BASKETBAALLLL IS STILL HERE,” the Pistons posted on X after defeating the Knicks in Game 5.
