The Pirates recalled outfielder Billy Cook and right-handed pitcher Wilber Dotel from Triple-A Indianapolis. Outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia was optioned to Indianapolis and right-hander Yohan Ramírez was placed on the paternity list.
Dotel, who is in fourth stint with the Pirates this year, has gone 1-4 with a 5.06 ERA (26.2ip/15er) and 29 strikeouts in 14 major league relief outings. In eight appearances/five starts with Indianapolis this season, the 23-year-old is 3-3 with a 5.27 ERA.
Cook has batted .200/.200/.267 with one double, one triple, two RBI and five steals in 66 games this season. He’s primarily been used as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement. The 27-year-old has hit .293/.390/.512 with five homers, 17 RBI and six steals in 22 games with Triple-A.
Garcia has appeared in 20 games across a couple stints with the Pirates this season and is batting .167/.200/.188 with one double and two RBI.
Ramírez is 6-3 with a 2.67 ERA and one save in 49 appearances/one start. In 67.1 innings, he’s allowed 20 earned runs on 46 hits with 38 walks and 79 strikeouts.
