The Pirates announced four more 2026 draft signings, upping their total to 10 out of 21 selections so far.
RHP Griffin Stieg, Virginia Tech (13th Round)
Stieg went 2-5 with a 7.46 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 66.1 innings across 16 appearances/15 starts with the Hokies this past season. The 22-year-old missed the 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
RHP Liam O’Leary, St. John’s (15th Round)
O’Leary became the 15th player from St. John’s to be drafted since 2015 when the Pirates took him in the 15th round. The 21-year-old earned ABCA/Rawlings All-Region first-team honors in 2026 after going 8-5 with a 3.64 ERA and a Big East-leading three complete games in 17 starts. The right-hander is a native of Doylestown, Penn.
RHP Nathan Helman, Kennesaw State (17th Round)
Helman went 3-1 with a 5.81 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 31 innings across 17 games/two starts as a fifth-year senior in 2026. The 22-year-old went 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA and struck out 21 batters in 11 innings in the California Collegiate League following his ’25 season at Kennesaw State.
LHP Dakota Stone, North Florida (20th Round)
Stone went 7-3 with a 2.85 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 79 innings across 15 appearances/12 starts in his lone season at North Florida after stops at Jacksonville and Central Florida. He was an All-ASUN selection in 2026.
