GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) -- East Carolina football started the week with an early morning practice today.

The Pirates were on the practice field at 7:20 this morning, with transfer quarterbacks Emory Williams and Mitch Griffis battling for the starting job.

Coach Blake Harrell said he told his guys that this maybe the toughest week of the year.

"We're going six days in a row, six practices in a row," Harrell said. "We're going to make a huge improvement. We want to be way up here by Saturday, and we're not, but we're going to take each day this week to take a step that direction and make sure we can get there and close in on that."
