Devin Booker is and will continue being the most pertinent topic when the Phoenix Suns are being brought into conversation - this much has been clear for years at this point.
That didn't change on Saturday evening, when rookie Koa Peat spoke about what he is shooting to contribute to the team during the upcoming season with Booker directly in mind during Phoenix's Summer League finale against the San Antonio Spurs.
From Duane Rankin of AZCentral:
"Just playing off him. Trying to make him better as a player. Doing the little things. Creating for him and just learning from him. He's one of the best players in the league. He's a legend. I think that's going to help my game for sure," Peat said.
Booker's impact as the face of the Suns truly can't be overstated, as he has nearly single-handedly reshaped how the organization has been viewed by the league as a whole in the post Steve Nash era. They went from being one of the pariahs of the NBA world and a destination that free agents would only touch if they got "overpaid" per market standards into transforming into a spot that players such as Kevin Durant vocally expressed a desire to play for.
No shortage of thanks is due to Booker, who has played his role as a representative of the organization in tandem with Mat Ishbia perfectly. It hasn't hurt that Booker's on-court play has been exceptional in its own right, as the 11-year vet is seeking to earn his sixth All-Star selection while seeing his game evolve into one that maximizes those around him after beginning his career as a score-first player with a happy trigger.
The respect Peat showed to the Kentucky product is simply a reflection of how the majority of the league feels about him, as numerous stars, coaches, and role players have voiced their respective admiration for Booker over the years.
Peat's willingness to do whatever it takes to make life easier for the two-guard simply reinforces that the Phoenix locker room is in unison at the moment - Booker is the clear top player on the roster and needs the requisite support to make a return to his expected statistical output during the 2026-27 campaign.
Peat still carries a distinct possibility to become an instant impact player in year one, as he averaged nearly 17 points per game in four games for the Suns during the team's Summer League run.
