The Phoenix Mercury will embark on the longest road trip remaining in the season, playing four games in four cities.
This week, Phoenix will play three of the four games, starting with the Chicago Sky on Monday, Aug. 3, and the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday, Aug. 5, before traveling to Washington, D.C. to take on the Mystics on Sunday, Aug. 9.
The Mercury are 1-1 against the Sky this season, losing 77-66 on July 7 in Phoenix. Rookie Sydney Taylor scored 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting with three 3-pointers.
In the last meeting against the Dream on May 24, the Mercury lost a heartbreaker when Atlanta used a 9-0 run in a span of 85 seconds to tie the game with just over a minute remaining. The Dream then won by two points.
Phoenix has yet to face the Mystics this season. Two-time All-Stars Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen lead Washington's young core, while Shakira Austin and rookie Lauren Betts provide an intimidating frontcourt.
The Mystics have the WNBA's youngest average roster of 22 years and 9 months, while the Mercury are the league's oldest at 30 years.
Entering their Wednesday, July 29, home matchup with the Golden State Valkyries, Phoenix star Kahleah Copper was averaging 20.5 points per game, followed by Alyssa Thomas' 14.4 points and 8.3 assists. Natasha Mack led the team with 7.8 rebounds.
