• Jose Alvarado was going to pitch for Venezuela in the WBC, but thanks to insurance issues, that will no longer happen.
• Don Mattingly was on the field for his Phillies bench coach debut on Saturday….facing off against his old employer in the Blue Jays ($).
• Is a lot of players going to play in the World Baseball Classic a bad thing for the Phillies? The debate continues.

MLB news:

• The Cardinals signed Ramon Urias to a one-year deal to help with some infield versatility. I think I smell a trade candidate.
• The new MLBPA leader in Bruce Meyer has a very important player in his corner for support: Tarik Skubal.
• Rhys Hoskins, recently the subject of some debate about coming back to Philadelphia, will instead try to make the Guardians’ 40-man roster.
