The Philadelphia Phillies' bats showed how dominant they can be on Tuesday night, as they dismantled the Athletics 9-1. The Phillies also received a dominant starting pitching performance from left-hander Cristopher Sanchez, who threw eight shutout innings and struck out 10.

First baseman Bryce Harper stole the show on offense with his two home runs -- one in the third inning to right center field (393 feet) and another in the eighth inning to center field (408 feet). However, second baseman Bryson Stott had an outstanding game as well, going two-for-four with a two-run home run in the seventh inning.

Stott has seen consistent playing time as of late, with the Phillies facing a handful of right-handers. Mostly used as a platoon player this season, Stott received a co-signer for playing every day, with Harper making it clear he thinks he should be.

“I mean, he's an everyday player, you know,” Harper said to the media postgame. “And when you have a guy that needs to play every day, and, you know, lefty, righty, don't matter. I mean, he's gonna keep having good at-bats. And he's an everyday guy. He always has been. You know, when you take an everyday guy to the lineup, it's tough for them to get it going each day. So I think you guys have seen that over the past couple of days.”

Despite his recent success, hitting three home runs in the past five games, Stott is still struggling overall. Through 30 games, Stott is hitting .210 with a .621 OPS and three home runs.

Infielder Edmundo Sosa has been better than Stott this season (.277 batting average/.710 OPS), which has led to his decreased playing time at times. With Stott starting to do well and having a new voice at the helm in interim manager Don Mattingly, maybe he will see more playing time.
