The Philadelphia Phillies might've just seen Cristopher Sanchez put together one of the best months by a pitcher in Major League Baseball history, as he didn't allow a run all month long.

Such a ridiculous month should obviously warrant Sanchez winning the National League Pitcher of the Month, right? Well, Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski was giving Sanchez a run for his money for this MLB award.

However, as Major League Baseball announced, Sanchez won the NL Pitcher of the Month award over Misiorowski for his shutout month. It's a well-deserved award for Sanchez for what's one of the best months by a pitcher ever in MLB history.

Cristopher Sanchez wins NL Pitcher of the Month for May

"Your AL and NL Pitchers of the Month for May: Spencer Arrighetti: 4-1, 0.93 ERA, 29 IP, 22 Ks. Cristopher Sanchez, 4-0, 0.00 ERA, 39 IP, 45 Ks," MLB announced.

Sanchez had an incredible May, as he was shutting down opposing lineups as well as any pitcher has in a month in MLB history.

He went eight innings against the Athletics with 10 strikeouts to begin his dominant May. Sanchez then went seven innings against the Colorado Rockies with seven strikeouts, followed by a complete-game-shutout of the Pittsburgh Pirates with 13 strikeouts.

Closing out May, Sanchez went eight innings, striking out six against the Cleveland Guardians, and had a seven-inning, nine-strikeout outing against the San Diego Padres.

He's in the middle of a scoreless streak that's one of the best of all time, going 44.2 innings straight without allowing a run, which includes all of May.

Misiorowski had a chance at this MLB award, as with one extra start compared to Sanchez, he went 38.1 innings with a 0.23 ERA with 57 strikeouts and six walks.

Both were great, but Sanchez won the May honor over the Brewers ace, which is a well-deserved honor for the Phillies left-hander who didn't allow a run all month long.
