Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cristopher Sánchez had a month of May to remember and now he's been rewarded for it.

After breaking a longtime Phillies record, Sánchez was named National League Pitcher of Month after going undefeated while not allowing an earned run.

Cristopher Sánchez named NL Pitcher of the Month​


During the month of May, Sánchez went 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA while striking out 45 batters in 39 innings.

Cristopher Sánchez breaks Phillies' scoreless streak record​


The left-handed starter pitched seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 win over the San Diego Padres on May 27 to surpass Hall of Famer Grover Cleveland Alexander for the longest scoreless streak in franchise history.

Alexander pitched 41 straight scoreless innings in 1911. It was the franchise's longest scoreless streak since at least 1893 when the pitching mound was set to its current distance.

Last Phillies starter to win NL Pitcher of the Month​


Before Sánchez, the last Phillies starter to win pitcher of the month was Zack Wheeler, who earned the award in June 2025 after going 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA with 42 strikeouts in five starts.
