Phillies' Aidan Miller breaks silence on 'super tight' back injury originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Philadelphia Phillies have some very intriguing young players to keep an eye on during this year's Spring Training. Andrew Painter and Justin Crawford are two big names to monitor, as they're set to be Opening Day staples for the Phillies.
But, just as important are some of the other young players who could make their mark in the near future for the Phillies. The top prospect who fits that description is Aidan Miller. However, he has not played yet for the Phillies due to a back issue.
In an interview with Corey Seidman of Sports Illustrated, Miller shared insight into his injury, revealing how he's healing and his mindset during this recovery.
Aidan Miller breaks silence on back injury
"It wasn't anything on the field," Miller said to Seidman, "it was just super tight. Tried coming into the training room and calming it down and it wasn't getting anywhere. We decided to take a couple days off and now I'm kind've building back."
While hearing that Miller's back is "super tight" isn't the best news, knowing that he's recovering well is a good sign that Miller's back issue won't linger.
It's the beginning of Spring Training, and there's still a month before the regular season. Miller isn't expected to make the Opening Day roster either.
With that in mind, there's little reason to rush Miller back just to get a look at him in Spring Training. All that matters is that Miller can get healthy. As he said, "I feel like I'm in a better spot than I was. It's getting better."

The 21-year-old top prospect of the Phillies is likely to take over for Alec Bohm at third base when he does come up to the Majors. But, barring a trade of Bohm, or the veteran third baseman struggles and Miller plays great, he's going to be a while for his MLB debut.
After recording 59 stolen bases with 14 home runs and an .825 OPS in 2025, Miller is one of the more exciting prospects in baseball.
The Phillies are taking their time with his recovery, and as Miller shared, this back issue shouldn't last for very long. While fans might have to wait for a little while, Miller's recovery isn't a big concern for Miller or the Phillies.
