With the NBA draft right around the corner, now is the time to look at some past drafts and see what the Philadelphia 76ers have done in their history. The Sixers have selected some big-time players in the past who have become an important part of the fabric of the franchise's history.
After making a move for Zhaire Smith earlier in the draft, the Sixers had another selection at No. 26. With that selection, they went with Landry Shamet out of Wichita State. Shamet was a solid rookie with the Sixers. He played 54 games and he averaged 8.3 points and 1.4 rebounds while shooting 40.4% from deep. He was terrific coming off screens, and it was obvious that he was learning from JJ Redick. He had a game where he knocked down eight 3s for Philadelphia.
Shamet's time in Philadelphia was very short. He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers at the 2019 deadline in the Tobias Harris deal after playing in only 54 games for Philadelphia. He has since played for the Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, and is now with the New York Knicks where he won a championship in 2026.
