With the 2026 NBA draft done and over with, now is the time to look at some past drafts and see what the Philadelphia 76ers have done in their history. The Sixers have selected some big-time players in the past who have become an important part of the fabric of the franchise's history.

This edition turns to the 2021 NBA draft as the Sixers were looking to add another piece on their championship quest. With the No. 28 pick late in the first round, they selected Tennessee wing Jaden Springer who was a raw prospect, but a terrific athlete who could help right away defensively.

Playing on such a veteran-laden team, Springer had a tough time cracking the rotation and earning playing time in Philadelphia. He only played 50 games across 2.5 seasons with the Sixers and averaged 3.4 points and 1.5 rebounds while shooting 23.8% from deep before being sent to the Boston Celtics at the 2024 deadline.

Springer ended up winning a title with the Celtics in 2024 as he was able to learn from the likes of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He began the 2024-25 season playing for Boston before being sent to the Houston Rockets at the 2025 deadline, was subsequently waived, and then signed with the Utah Jazz. He signed a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2025 offseason, but was waived in October.
