Tiger Woods has won the Open Championship three times, while Phil Mickelson has one claret jug to his name.
Woods won his Open Championships at St Andrews (twice) and Royal Hoylake, while Mickelson reigned supreme at Muirfield in 2013.
The Open Championship will be played at Royal Birkdale this year, but Woods and Mickelson will not be in the field together.
In fact, there is a chance that neither Tiger Woods nor Phil Mickelson will be at Birkdale in July.

The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale this year is one of the most eagerly anticipated major championships in recent memory, due to the quality of the golf course.
Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods make opposite Open Championship decisions
Jordan Spieth won the Open the last time it was held at Royal Birkdale back in 2017.
Spieth produced one of the most thrilling final rounds in Open history to win his third major championship nine years ago.
While this year’s edition of the Open will undoubtedly be an enthralling one to watch, there will be at least one and maybe two big-name absentees.
According to a report from SI, Woods has not submitted an entry for the Open Championship this year.

Meanwhile, Mickelson has submitted an entry but as things stand, it is unclear as to whether or not he will play at Royal Birkdale.
So far in 2026, the 55-year-old has played just one event on LIV Golf and has missed both major championships due to an ongoing family health matter.
The Open won’t be the same without both Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson
The last time Woods played in the Open Championship was in 2024 at Royal Troon and he hasn’t made a cut in the event since 2018.
The most important thing for the 15-time major champion right now is to get himself healthy both mentally and physically, after his recent DUI arrest.
Hopefully he’ll be back in action sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, Mickelson has not missed an Open Championship since 2009.
Mickelson’s longevity is something that often gets overlooked, and it would be a real positive if he was in the field at Royal Birkdale in July.
Hopefully from 2027 onwards we will see both Woods and Mickelson competing at the Open until they decide to call it a day.
