With just nine days before the NFL Draft, we have seen and heard about 100 different mock drafts and ways that teams may go about things. One nice way to mix things up is by adding a new wrinkle to the mock draft process. Some places will do skill players only or defense only, but PFF decided to instead do one where they added a much larger player pool.
Pro Football Focus did their annual College Football Mock Draft on Monday, where every player in the game is eligible for the draft. Of course, this leads to a lot of quarterbacks being taken early on, which means that more talent falls down the board. This leads us to the Vikings' pick at 24 overall.
In this unique mock draft experience, the Vikings are drafting a sophomore in Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore.
In the exercise done by Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman they explained the pick citing, "Moore finished his true freshman season as the third-most-valuable cornerback in college football, according to PFF’s Wins Above Average metric, trailing only Jahdae Barron and Travis Hunter. He was especially good in Notre Dame’s man-heavy scheme, as his 82.5 PFF grade in man coverage was third among all cornerbacks in college football. He is already PFF’s top returning cornerback despite entering only his sophomore year."
If his freshman season is any indication, Moore is expected to be one of the top picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. Being in the company of a potential top-ten pick like Jahdae Barron isn't bad, and while Moore can't be the pick next week for the Vikings, the position makes sense to be addressed.
