Personal Best wins, ties; Growden, MLMC, Frostburg victorious in Mtn. League

POTOMAC PARK — Personal Best won a suspended game 11-6 over Westernport and the sides tied a second contest 9-9 in a Mountain League Baseball Senior Division game on Wednesday at Memorial Field.

Personal Best led 3-1 in the top of the third inning when the teams' game Monday was suspended due to a thunderstorm, and it added seven runs in the third and fourth frames after it was resumed to pull away Wednesday.

Jameson Resh was 2 for 2 with a triple, Daulton Harper finished 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, Chase Deremer and Codey Winbrenner doubled, and Eli McKenzie scored twice.

Josiah Dudiak was the winning pitcher, allowing a run on two hits in four innings with seven strikeouts and six walks.

Westernport's Austen Philips doubled and drove in two runs, and Ryder Lewis scored two times. Reid Robison was tabbed with the loss in a complete-game effort.

In the second game, Personal Best scored three runs in the fifth to force a 9-9 tie, and that ended as the final score after seven innings.

Personal Best's Liam Harper was 2 for 4 with a triple and four runs batted in, Dylan Irons finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs, Deremer tripled, doubled and scored three times, and Dudiak had two hits and two runs.

Deremer pitched five innings in a no-decision, and Daulton Harper pitched two scoreless in relief.

Lewis tripled twice and drove in two for Westernport, Jaren Vasquez doubled, Briyer Cadwallader had two hits and two ribbies, Bradley Ziler and Johny Hanlin singled twice each, Braylon Cadwallader drove in two, and Robison scored two times.

Lewis garnered a no-decision pitching 4 1/3 innings. Ziler pitched 2 2/3 shutout frames out of the bullpen.

Personal Best (7-0-1) faces Growden at Holler Field on Friday at 6 p.m.

Westernport (0-9-1) heads to Broadford Park to take on Mountain Laurel Medical Center on Friday at 6 p.m.

Growden 11, Northern 6

POTOMAC PARK — Christian Riley led Growden with three base hits in a win over Northern in a Senior Division contest Wednesday at Holler Field.

Riley doubled and scored twice, Cam Hook tripled and singled, Carver Robeson was 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs, Issac Growden doubled and singled, and Braedon Martin had two RBIs.

Channing Logsdon tossed the first 4 1/3 innings and picked up the win. Robeson struck out four in 1 2/3 shutout frames in relief.

Northern's Bailey Turner was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Caleb Yoder tripled, singled and drove in two, and Caden Frazee scored two times. Yoder was tabbed with the loss on the mound.

Northern (2-3-2) is at Flintstone on Friday at 6 p.m.

Growden (5-1) battles Personal Best at Holler Field on Friday at 6 p.m.

Mtn. Laurel MC 15, Lefty's 5

POTOMAC PARK — Lucas Lantz racked up four hits, two going for extra bases, in Mountain Laurel Medical Center's romp of Lefty's in a Senior Division game on Wednesday at Hamilton Field.

Lantz was 4 for 6 with a triple, double, two RBIs and two runs, Jake Zewatsky singled four times, drove in two and scored two runs, JD Nesselrodt had four hits and four runs, and Jake Graham had two hits and two runs.

Nesselrodt pitched four shutout innings in a no-decision. Lantz was the winning arm in relief.

Lefty's William Shaffer had three hits and two runs. Clay Bailey was dealt the loss.

Mountain Laurel Medical Center (3-3-2) hosts Westernport on Friday at 6 p.m.

Lefty's (2-5) battles Growden at Hamilton Field on Monday at 6 p.m.

Junior Division

Frostburg 7, TM Sluggers 6

FROSTBURG — Frostburg scored five runs in the third inning and held off a late rally to defeat the Travel Mug Sluggers in Junior Division action on Wednesday.

Frostburg had six batters combine for its seven hits, led by Eli Fair's 2 for 2 effort. Gavin Smith scored twice.

Scott Cowan picked up the win, surrendering five runs (one earned) on three hits in five innings, fanning six and walking three.

Landon Smith allowed a run in two innings of relief.

TM Sluggers' Dominic Brown finished 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Grady Miller doubled, Owen Workman had two hits, and Parker Hook had two ribbies.

Weeks was dealt the loss on the bump. Workman held Frostburg to a run on two hits in 3 1/3 frames out of the bullpen.

Frostburg (4-6) is at Flintstone on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Travel Mug Sluggers (4-5) face Bedford at Hamilton Field on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
