EUGENE, Ore. – Penn State rising sophomore Nolan Carey earned a spot on Team USA for the World Under-20 Championships after winning the USA U20 javelin title Thursday afternoon at Hayward Field.
Carey claimed the national title with a throw of 66.38 meters. Carey recorded the mark on his second attempt in the preliminary round, and it remained unbeaten through the final.
Rising sophomore Bryce Thompson will also compete at the USA Under-20 Championships, taking part in the shot put Friday. He will look to earn a spot on Team USA's shot put team for the World Under-20 Championships.
The World Athletics U20 Championships are set to take place August 5-9 at Hayward Field.
