Penguins make decision on trading Erik Karlsson originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Pittsburgh Penguins could have a busy offseason ahead of them.
They've got a potential contract to sign with Evgeni Malkin. There have also been suggestions about trading Kris Letang.
But as for Erik Karlsson? It sounds like he's staying put.
This is what TSN shared on X on Tuesday afternoon:
"Penguins GM Kyle Dubas has confirmed that veteran defenceman Erik Karlsson will not be traded this summer. While Karlsson remains signed through next year at a cap hit of $10 million, he is owed a $6 million signing bonus on July 1 of this year and just $1.5 million in remaining salary beyond that."

Before this season, there would've been plenty of thought toward the Penguins getting rid of Karlsson.
Now, he seems like a player they can't possibly consider moving on from. He's on an immense hot streak.
The 35-year old blue liner has played in 65 games this season and has 54 points. That includes 11 goals and 43 assists.
It's lately, though, that Karlsson has reached a whole new gear.
We'll have to ignore his scoreless game on Sunday. Before that, Karlsson had a two-goal game, a two-goal, one-assist game, a one-goal, two-assist game and a two-assist game to round out his last five.
He's on a streak so hot it'll melt the ice.
The Penguins have needed it, too, with Sidney Crosby just returning from injury and Malkin just returning from suspension.
Karlsson has made himself indispensable for the Penguins, and now he doesn't seem like he'll be going anywhere anytime soon.
