Pellegrini unable to train due to surgery after-effects


Lorenzo Pellegrini is waiting to renew his contract with Roma.


The Giallorossi midfielder has made his choice, having always prioritized staying in the capital.


The number 7 has been a free agent since July 1st, but there’s no danger of him reaching an agreement with other clubs because he’s already finalized an agreement with the Roman club to stay with the team where he grew up. So why hasn’t he signed a contract renewal yet?


Pellegrini, as reported by Corriere dello Sport, is currently unable to train due to the after-effects of surgery performed in secret immediately after the end of the season.


Pellegrini underwent minor surgery immediately after securing the Champions League, following the 2-0 win at Hellas Verona.


The number 7 flew to Finland to see Professor Lempainen, one of the Friedkins’ trusted specialists, who cleaned the inflamed scar from the May 2025 operation on the ****** femoris tendon in his right thigh.


The agreement between Roma and the player was effectively reached on the basis of €2.5 million plus bonuses until 2028, with an option to extend the contract for another season in favor of the Giallorossi.


Pellegrini expected a three-year contract but is expected to have accepted a further sacrifice, in addition to the financial one (he gave up approximately €3.5 million compared to the previous agreement).
