In the midst of the 2026 NHL Draft, the New York Rangers and Vegas Golden Knights struck a massive deal to send Pavel Dorofeyev out west in a shocker of a move.

You might remember Dorofeyev as one of the big playoff names this past spring, as he helped catapult the Golden Knights to their Stanley Cup Final run with his explosive goalscoring. Now, Dorofeyev will take his goalscoring talents to the Rangers, where he'll take the reins as one of the teams best offensive scorers.

Now that the dust has settled on this deal, let's hand out some grades to the Rangers and Golden Knights as Dorofeyev heads to Vegas.

Rangers and Golden Knights trade details

New York Rangers get: F Pavel Dorofeyev

Vegas Golden Knights get: 2026 first-round pick, 2026 third-round pick, 2028 first-round pick (top-10 protected)

Rangers trade grade

Dorofeyev had a stellar playoff run with the Golden Knights, scoring 12 goals and 16 points in 22 games and was the second-best goal scorer in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Rangers gave up a lot to get him, but Dorofeyev's stock is extremely high right now and at 25-years-old, he could be a staple on New York's top-six for a long time.

Grade: B

Golden Knights trade grade

Vegas continues to make crafty moves. Moving Dorofeyev almost feels like a precursor to a bigger deal (Dylan Larkin?) down the line, especially with getting multiple first-round picks back. I hate to say it, but Vegas has definitely done it again here.
