The New England Patriots welcomed back star defensive tackle Christian Barmore for the start of offseason workouts on Monday.

Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots last summer during training camp, which sidelined him indefinitely before the start of the season. He did manage to return for Week 11 against the Los Angeles Rams, but he suffered another setback with recurring symptoms after playing in only four games.

There are no guarantees that he'll be ready by the start of next season, but seeing him return for offseason workouts is a good sign. Back in February, Patriots lead personnel executive Eliot Wolf said Barmore was working out in Tampa and "passionate about getting back on the field."

The Patriots' social media team released a video and images of the first day of workouts, and Barmore can be seen lifting weights.

Patriots fans are obviously eager to see what the pairing of Barmore and newly-signed defensive tackle Milton Williams will look like playing side by side.

Both players are promising young defenders on the rise. Barmore looked like a future All-Pro talent in 2023, and Williams was the main game-wrecker for the Philadelphia Eagles in their Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The duo could be something special if they're able to share the field together.
