The worst-kept secret in the NFL right now is that the New England Patriots are likely to trade for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown after June 1.

If the Patriots choose to pursue a trade for Brown, many fans will be eager to see what draft picks they might need to give up to acquire him. Chad Graff from The Athletic proposed a trade package that New England may have to consider to secure Brown.

"The two most likely packages for Brown seem to be a 2028 first-round pick or a 2027 second-round pick plus a player such as wide receiver Kayshon Boutte," Graff wrote on Thursday.

It would be beneficial for New England to avoid parting with a first-round pick for Brown and instead offer a second-round pick in 2027 along with Boutte. However, if the Patriots do need to give up a first-rounder, then 2028 might be a better option than 2027.

There’s a strong possibility that the Patriots might take a step back this season, making that 2027 first-round pick all the more important for their future. This pick could play a crucial role in helping them bounce back and become Super Bowl contenders once again. Additionally, the 2027 draft class is expected to be one of the best, and securing a first-round selection could allow New England to land a top 10 talent, especially given the depth of next year's class.
