New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is more focused on the present as opposed to how he will be utilized in the preseason this year as training camp continues on.
Speaking to reporters after the team’s training camp practice on Wednesday, Maye stated that his mind is fixed on the team’s current slate of activities, though he does desire to play in the preseason.
”I haven’t even heard,” Maye said. “So, we haven’t even talked about that. We are trying to stay focused on practice. I know what we did last year, and may be a little bit different schedule this year. But, I’ll be out there. If they want me to be out there, I’ll be out there. So I’m not shying away from it. I like being out there."
The Patriots’ preseason schedule consists of games against the Indianapolis Colts on August 13, the Philadelphia Eagles on August 22 and the Cleveland Browns on August 27.
Maye will be able to finish working his way into game shape over the course of New England’s three-game slate this summer if he takes the field. The Patriots also have three joint practices that he will participate in, starting next week, when the Colts come to visit.
The Eagles are scheduled to visit the following week for two joint practices.
