The New England Patriots made a trade to acquire A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles on June 1.
The Patriots knew what they were getting in Brown. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and has the ability to dominate in big games. However, he had his worst season with the Eagles last season. There were reports of him being frustrated with his role and with Jalen Hurts. Now he will get to play for the team he's always wanted to play for and with Drake Maye.
Brown had a down season, but he is positioned to have a huge season with the Patriots. CBS Sports' Pete Prisco ranked him 64th on his Top 100 players list.
"He was traded from the Eagles to the Patriots last month, giving him a chance to play in a more pass-friendly offense," wrote Prisco on Thursday. "He had 78 catches with seven touchdowns last season. But his yards-per-catch average dropped from 16.1 to 12.9."
Prisco ranked Brown 31st on his list last season. Brown's ranking took a dive after his down year, but all he has to do is prove that it was a result of being in the Eagles offense with Hurts. He has the talent to put up elite numbers, and just has to remind everyone he is the same guy who helped the Eagles reach two Super Bowls.
