The New England Patriots held their first practice ahead of Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos.
Edge rusher Harold Landry III and linebacker Marte Mapu were the only non-participants at practice on Wednesday. As Patriots coach Mike Vrabel announced earlier in the day, cornerback Carlton Davis, who is currently in concussion protocol from the injury he suffered in last week's divisional playoff game, practiced in a limited capacity.
The fact that Davis was already on the field in a red non-contact jersey bodes well for his chances of playing on Sunday. It means he's further along in the concussion protocol with a real shot at being available for the road trip to Denver.
There's hope that wide receiver Mack Hollins will be available as well. He is currently dealing with an abdominal injury that has kept him sidelined since the Patriots' Week 16 meeting with the Baltimore Ravens. Vrabel announced that the team wasn't going to open the injured reserve window for Hollins on Wednesday.
