Patriots High Draft Pick Had 'Procedure,' Missed Mini-Camp originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Gabe Jacas is the last member of the New England Patriots' 2026 draft class to remain unsigned. As a second-round pick, Jacas has a lot to negotiate for as far as his rookie contract is concerned.
But on Tuesday, head coach Mike Vrabel gave a very vague update regarding Jacas's absence from mandatory mini-camp.
Mike Vrabel says second-round pick Gabe Jacas had a procedure and has not been present at the team facility.

No details have been made available about the undisclosed injury, though many speculate it could have to do with a hamstring injury he suffered during the predraft process that kept him from participating in the NFL Combine.
How serious could the injury be?
Mike Vrabel is not one to mince words. If Jacas's "procedure" was truly the one thing keeping him off the field during mini-camp, I believe he would say that.
Honestly, the head coach mentioning the procedure at all feels like a way to take the attention off the ongoing contract negotiation and provide a more football-related explanation for his absence.
I do not believe fans have anything to worry about as far as Jacas's health is concerned. He was incredibly durable during his time with Illinois. He missed just one game in four years with the Fighting Illini.
