New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has had a positive impact on teammate DeMario Douglas this summer due to his play in practice.
Speaking before the media after training camp practice on Monday (via WEEI), Douglas spoke on just how much Maye’s progress and performance has galvanized him at this juncture of the summer.
“He’s into this offense a lot, man,” Douglas said. “Confidence is up there… Just seeing him in practice, man, it lifts me up. Just to see the growth. It's amazing to see what he's doing.”
Maye was able to lead his teammates to the Super Bowl last season. He developed a connection with Douglas in 2025, and looked to the slot receiver to break games open early with receiving touchdowns.
Both Maye and Douglas will be pivotal pieces for New England next season. Maye is coming off of a season in 2025 where he finished as the AP MVP-runner-up and will have an inspired Douglas to look to in the receiving corps in a season that comes with MVP and Super Bowl expectations for the young quarterback.
