New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown revealed who he believes is the best cornerback in the NFL.
According to Brown, Christian Gonzalez is "very close" to being No. 1 in the NFL, along with former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II.
"(Gonzalez) is very close. I think he’s right there. I think it’s 1A, 1B. Yeah, he’s up there," Brown said on Up & Adams.
Brown has had a chance to match up with Gonzalez multiple times in training camp. The three-time All-Pro wide receiver referred to that challenge as "good work." If anything, it has looked like iron sharpening iron with two of the best at their respective positions battling it out on a daily basis.
Gonzalez has gotten the better of Brown on some plays, and Brown has gotten the better of Gonzalez on others. The competition has been fierce.
With that said, Gonzalez is widely viewed as one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. He even earned the highest rating at the position on Madden NFL 27. If he hasn't outright surpassed Surtain yet, it's plausible that he is knocking on the door, at the very least.
