The New England Patriots approach next season with a defense that is capable of helping them contend for the Super Bowl, and much of their prowess comes in the interior.
The Patriots were able to pressure opposing quarterbacks last season in part due to the pass-rushing abilities of starting defensive tackles Milton Williams and Christian Barmore. New England will have both star defensive tackles back for the 2026 season, along with several other contributors behind them in the lineup.
Let’s take a look at who the Patriots have at defensive tackle with training camp right around the corner.
Williams and Barmore will once again be the starters for New England in the interior next season. Durden is making a case to be a starter at nose tackle based on the work he’s done this spring.
Farmer played the most games out of all of the Patriots’ current backup defensive tackles last season, and he will get the chance to vie for more snaps in training camp with an impressive showing. Gregory and Pharms are also returning, having seen time in limited games last season.
Durden is the defensive tackle to watch at Patriots training camp this summer. The 27-year-old is coming off a career year in 2025, where he started in four of the 17 games that he played after only playing in four games in each of the last two seasons.
How Durden performs in training camp will determine how many snaps he gets next season.
