This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with retired 8-time Pro Bowl defensive back Patrick Peterson.

In his interview with Easton Jr., Peterson, who participated in this year's American Century Championship, held at Edgewood Tahoe and aired on NBC and Peacock, shared his thoughts on the Kansas City Chiefs' selection of Mansoor Delane in the 2026 NFL Draft.

"(Mansoor) Delane is going to be a good player, I believe. He only had that one year at LSU, and he was a cornerstone of that secondary. He made plays week in and week out on the team's number one receiver for the majority of the season," said Peterson. "He got better; you can just see the confidence as the season went on. Just continue to grow for him. I feel like he's a guy who can be interchangeable, like Trent McDuffie was for Steve Spagnuolo's defense. He can play inside or outside, and he has the ability to go up against a team's number-one receiver; if that's what they need him to do, I believe this was a great pick for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Peterson was a highly accomplished player during his college career at LSU, and it translated well into the NFL. Delane led LSU with 11 pass breakups while starting 11 games, finishing with 45 tackles and 2 interceptions last season.

"I think matching him up with Steve Spagnuolo, who is not only a great defense mind but a guy who started in this league in the defensive backfield, coaching defensive back, so he's going to put no Delane in the right position almost every time," said Peterson, "Now it's just going to be on him to trust what the coach is telling him, because we've seen the success the corners have had in Kansas City over the years. This is a great pickup for the Kansas City Chiefs, and also a great landing spot for him to not only learn and get all the knowledge that he needs to be a successful player, but also have the opportunity to win right away, being with Patrick Mahomes."

The annual tournament awarded $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities.
