Wow. Five years. I'll never forget my brother coming into the room and saying "I've got some bad news." Since he was watching ESPN, I figured the Cards did something stupid regarding the draft. Wish that had been the case.

Thanks for being an inspiration, Pat.

It doesn't seem like it was that long ago.

Been wearing his jersey to the Home opener ever since... Got interviewed by Fox 10 in 2006 as we opened the new stadium on 9/10th... It was crazy emotional (9/11th... Tillman should have been there... wow...).

Miss ya Pat.... You'll never be forgotten!

One of the events in my life where I will never forget where I was when I heard the news.
He was just an outstanding human being, overachieved at everything he did. I still have the utmost respect for him.

Thank You Pat Tillman. I have the pamphlet I got at his (ASU) funeral, framed and hanging on my wall, I'm looking at it now and getting choked up. again Thank you Pat Tillman.

I'll never forget that I was in air force basic training when pat was KIA. It seemed like everyday soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen were being killed by the dozens in that time (both in iraq and afghanastan). That was a dark period for our vetrans and brothers in arms. God bless pat and all of the other heroes....especially their families for their sacrifices as they live on.

thanks for that, but I've never even been overseas. I have been lucky. Here's to the one's like pat who went over there first of all....and then paid that price. I really admire an athlete like him who could of easily just played football or did what he pleased. But he believed in his country first. I think he should be in the HOF ASAP....because he was a great player on the field too and who knows what he could have done on the field as a lifetime cardinal. I would put him right up there with ted williams as athletes who I admire personally.

I have not heard...it's been about 5 years though so he should be good to go. I know this will be a strong class this season and Pat will be there.

I remember I was in AF basic training when I heard this. Every day we were losing airmen, marines, solidiers, and sailors in Iraq/afghanistan. It was terrible reading the news. Pat Tillman is one of my favorite football players of all-time and I hope that he is one day in the NFL hall of fame. Not because he died for his country, but because he was a hell of a football player that gave up his brilliant career for his country.

Coming up on 10 years... Here is a new video from Outside The Lines:

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=10802533

Powerful... and so damn sad... :(

Holy crap it's hard to believe it's been 10 years. It was definitely the saddest day I've ever had as a sports fan. I knew Tillman well enough that we were on a first name basis, so it was a punch in the gut.

I remember when I got the news. I was doing a lunch period exam review with my AP Bio class when my friend I go to the games with came in and told me what happened. I was stunned, could not believe it. I changed my lessons for the rest of the day because I could not teach with my mind hoping to hell it wasn't true when I knew it probably was. :(

Personally, the documentaries of his death and the subsequent attempted coverup of how it went down.... I can't really watch them. To damn depressing.

Yeah definitely a black eye for the special operations chain of command. They weren't held accountable like they should have been. Another one of the many reasons I'm leaving the Army in 2016. Can't come soon enough!
