The Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers are getting set to begin their second-round playoff series. Toronto enters this matchup with home-ice advantage, offering them a slight edge in the series.
While the Maple Leafs were the best team in the Eastern Conference this season, they enter this series at a disadvantage. Many will focus on the experience from the Panthers, especially since they are the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
But the clear advantage that Florida has over Toronto in this series is the goaltending. Florida goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has established himself as a clear star in this league, helping to lead the Panthers to the title last season.
In the Panthers' first-round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Bobrovsky was electric. The goalie finished with a 2.21 GAA and a.901 save percentage over the four wins.
In contrast, the Maple Leafs have been relying on Anthony Stolarz in the postseason. Stolarz has been solid for Toronto, but he remains one of the biggest question marks for this team entering the series.

Bobrovsky spoke about the upcoming series, discussing the challenges ahead.
“I feel excited, definitely,” Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky said. “Playing against Toronto in Canada, it’s probably one of the best atmospheres to play in. Capital of the hockey. It’s going to be a good challenge. They have a good team – good offense, defense, good goaltender. It’s going to be a good challenge for us and all of us are excited.”
The Panthers will have their work cut out for them, but if Bobrovsky can play up to par, they will have a good chance to win. Florida is the reigning champion for a reason, and they have a great opportunity to show that in this matchup.
