The Carolina Panthers have replenished their quarterback room.
As officially announced on Sunday morning, the team has signed former second-round pick Kyle Trask. The addition of the 28-year-old passer comes in light of the setback to rookie Haynes King, who sustained a hamstring injury in Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game.
Carolina brought Trask in for a workout back on July 29. Head coach Dave Canales, Trask's offensive coordinator with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023, was asked that afternoon if the visit would materialize into a signing.
"Kyle Trask is somebody that I love. Got a chance to spend a year with him in Tampa," Canales stated. "Brought him in to work him out, see where he's at physically. Maybe it's the Hall of Fame Game. And on top of that, it's just being ready. You don't know. You never know what happens. It's good to just have guys who know the system to be ready to be available."
The University of Florida standout was taken by the Buccaneers with the 64th overall selection in 2021. He'd go on to make seven regular-season appearances through the 2024 campaign, completing four of his 11 passing attempts (36.4 percent) for 28 yards.
Trask then spent part of the 2025 season as a member of the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad.
Along with Trask's signing, the Panthers also announced that they've waived/injured wide receiver Malick Meiga and outside linebacker Nick Hampton.
