Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks may be bumping himself up a notch in 2026.
The soon-to-be third-year rusher has seemingly teased his new uniform number in a Twitter/X post on Friday morning. Brooks looks to be swapping his No. 24 for No. 25, which he wore during his playing days at Hallettsville High School in Hallettsville, Texas.

Brooks, thanks to a pair of ACL tears, has been limited to just three games over his first two pro campaigns. Those outings came during his rookie season of 2024, where he rushed for 22 yards on nine carries and reeled in three catches for 23 yards.
Head coach Dave Canales, back in January, offered an encouraging update on the former second-round pick—who was held out for the entirety of 2025.
"We had a plan not to put him out there this year, after a second ACL injury and to make sure that we give him the best chance to compete and affect our roster," Canales told reporters. "He's flying around, he's big, he's beautiful-looking.
"Just the way that he's progressed and went about his work. Denny [Kellington] and the staff have done an incredible job of bringing him back on, the strength staff as well. He's one of the more powerful, explosive athletes that we have—and he's gonna have an opportunity to compete to start for this team, just like a lot of other guys."
Carolina's No. 25 was last worn by cornerback Kalen King, who appeared in one game for the team in 2025.
